Chat Room programs focus on the college admissions process
HQ DoDEA PAO released the second in a series of three Chat Room programs about the college admissions process. They hope these shows will be of interest to high school students, parents, and counselors.
The second program highlights the college.gov website, an award winning website designed to help students and their parents navigate the many questions that families wrestle with as they begin the search and application process for colleges and technical schools. This is a site developed by the U.S. Department of Education to help students and parents make decisions about life after high school. The guest is Holly Anderson from the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Aid Awareness and Application Services. Ms. Anderson serves as the business owner of the College.gov initiative.
HQ DoDEA will follow this up with the last program in the series on December 1, will the launch of a program on Financial Aid. Ms. Stephanie Gross from the U.S. Department of Education will walk us through the FAFSA application and the resources that are available to parents and students as they look at ways to pay for college.
(The first program dealt with the college admissions process. The guest was Dr. Andrew Flagel, Dean of Admissions, at George Mason University, who gave some great tips on applying to schools and what admissions officers are looking for in the process. The interview is still available on the home page).
